本研究は昭和2年にに発布された不良住宅地区改良法により6大都市に建設された集合住宅の様相について明らかにすることを目的にするものである。対象とした集合住宅は東京府が建設した三河島住宅、西巣鴨住宅、愛知県慈善協会が建設した奥田町住宅、大阪市が建設した今宮住宅、下寺第一住宅、北日東住宅、南日東住宅、神戸市が建設した葺合新川住宅である。今年度は、これらの集合住宅について、計画の概要、建設の経緯、建設後の使用状況などについて明らかにすることを試みた。以下、交付申請書の研究実施計画に基づいて各集合住宅毎に新たに得た知見について報告する。三河島住宅は、住戸数322戸、1戸当りの規模は6.26坪から8.00坪(店舗付き住宅は10.00坪から10.25坪)で、住棟の配置はコの字型で6棟からなる。西巣鴨住宅は、住戸数234戸で、1戸当りの規模は6.25坪から6.791坪(店舗付き住宅は10.00坪から10.25坪)で、住棟は日の字型に配置されている。奥田町住宅は住戸数225戸で、1戸当りの規模は7.50坪から11.66坪(店舗付き住宅は11.25坪)であった。今宮住宅、下寺第一住宅、北日東住宅、南日東住宅は、1戸当りの平均坪数は8.75坪、配置計画には一定のパターンはない。葺合新川住宅は住戸数294戸、1戸当りの規模は平均6.24坪であった。いずれの集合住宅も鉄筋コンクリート造3・4階建てで、共用施設は極めて少ない。また、計画当初の建設予定戸数を大幅に減じているものがある。住戸の一般的な間取りは2室(3畳+4.5畳、4.5畳+6畳など)に簡略な台所、便所が付属しているものが多い。建設後、居住者と住宅の対応に問題があることが指摘されている点は注目される。今後さらに経時的資料を収集し、居住状況の変遷を明らかにする予定である。
