本研究の目的及び研究実施計画にもとずいて、次のような調査と研究を実施した。第1にシベリア・極東・沿海州に関する、主として戦前日本で刊行された調査資料などの文献の調査及び収集を実施した。そのために北海道地域の研究機関、東京・国会図書館などの調査をおこない、資料文献目録を作成しつつ、入手可能な重要資料文献を約20点購入した。さらに、ロシア側の文献資料に関しては、1992年10月に帰国したロシア・ウラジオストク極東国立総合大学留学生(1991年10月より1年間経済学部に留学していた学生)に調査を依頼したが、結果はまだ判明していない。第2は戦前にロシア・ウラジオストクで発行された新聞『浦塩日報』をはじめとした在留日本人関係の資料調査とその収集である。『浦塩日報』はなかでも注目してきた本研究の中心をなす資料で、前記2か所の調査に加えて、福井県敦賀市(戦前、国内唯一の支局が存在)の関係機関・関係者の調査も行なった。以上3か所の調査の結果、従来所蔵していた創刊号〜第56号の他に、大量の存在を確認しえた。収集した号数のみを掲げると第994号(1921年6月)〜第1375号(1922年9月)までである。この資料の整理、主要記事索引の作成もあわせて行なった。なお、北陸3県公共図書館に対して『浦塩日報』など関連資料の所蔵アンケートも実施した。第3は、以上の調査をもとにして本研究課題に関する若干の研究作業を行なった。今年度の研究は課題についての基礎的研究であるので、収集した資料に照らして(1)資料の基本的目録の作成と検討、(2)課題の当該時期である「シベリア出兵」に関する資料と先行研究の整理、(3)『浦塩日報』に関する若干の研究の3点について作業を行ない、次に記載したような2本の研究発表・論文を現在執筆中である。
