本研究は萌芽的研究であるが、極めて貴重な成果が得られたので、逐次それらを学会誌などで報告する予定である。以下報告書で記述した順に結果を述べる。微笑みの日米比較は先行研究である。日米の被験者が、52枚の笑顔を含む写真について、魅力度、知性などの次元で評定した。その結果、日米で表情のディスプレイ・ルールが異なり、特に笑顔についてそういえることが判明した。欺瞞に関するアメリカ人の分析では、眉を持ち上げる、口をモグモグさせる、頭を動かす、の3種の非言語行動が連動パターンの鍵となっていることが分かった。欺瞞場面では、頭の動き-まばたき-頭の動き、頭の動き-眉を持ち上げる、などの連動動作が顕著にみられたのである。欺瞞の手掛かりの分析では、その連動生起の観点からアプローチする必要性が力説された 微笑みを中心にした情動判断の日米比較では、56枚のスライドを用い、日米の被験者が微笑み(幸せ)などの感情判断を行なった。日本人は、恐怖を驚きと見誤る傾向など興味深い結果が得られた。微笑みは、日米ともに正確な解読がなされた。微笑みの状況的意味の分析は試行的な段階であるが、38のカテゴリーに分けられて生じるほど極めて複雑微妙な表情であることが裏付けられた。この他、成果の報告書には収録されていないが、欺瞞場面で見られる個人差の実験的研究が実施された。そこでも重要な知見が得られた。これらは学会で報告する予定である。
