Recent success in developing superconductive wire with very low AC loss has been promising us a feasibility of a fully superconducting generator composed of both superconductive field and armature windings. However, since the armature winding is usually exposed to AC field, the evaluation of AC loss on the armature winding is one of the most important items in the fully superconducting generator.In this study, we mainly investigated the measurement method of the AC loss of the armature winding in a fully superconducting generator. We made two circuits for measurement of AC loss. Then, these circuits were tested by using normal-conductive experimental coils, which were cooled by liquid nitrogen.Moreover, we theoretically investigated the steady-state AC loss in the armature winding of an 1GVA fully superconducting generator conceptually designed by us. We discussed the influences of the machine design parameters and the operating conditions on the AC loss of the armature winding.
