In order to optimumly control the growth of plant tissue in vessels, physical coditions in gel medium is re quired to be kept in optimum conditions. Especially, solute and/or water movements through gel medium could effect growth condition in plant tissue culture vessels. In this report, physical parameters for these movements are measured. The results are summarized as follows :1. Matric potential in gel medium is over-5cm(aq.)and negligible as a driving force for water movement.2. Overburden weight on gel me dium is directly changed to overburden potential and increase water potential in the medium.3. Hydraulic conductivity through gel medium depends highly on gel concentration and changes markedly around the gel concentration for normal use.4. Morechlar diffusion coeficients of solutes in gel medium can be regarded to have the same values in water.5. Solute movement by molecular diffusion is more have influencial than that by mass flow with water.
