At the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at the Leibniz University of Hanover, the Working Group for Functional Nanostructures is working on nano-, micro- and macro-structuring of colloidally synthesized nanocrystals. In particular, the structure-property relationships of nanoparticles and their assembly architectures are the focus of their research. The work so far has largely focused on semiconductor and metal nanostructures and will also include magnetic nanocomponents in the future. For a detailed structure-property-relationship determination with respect to the magnetic properties, the purchase of a SQUID magnetometer is necessary. The purpose of the device is to investigate in detail the influence of nanoparticle surfaces, distances, crystallinities and assembly architectures on the magnetic properties of the resulting materials. The acquisition of a SQUID magnetometer will thus enable research projects that will sustainably strengthen the Hanover site in the materials chemistry sector, including networking with research associations in the health sector.
