The objective of the subproject A01 (Reese/Simon) is to develop a so-called modular structure generator in order to create numerous variants of bio-inspired structures made of carbon reinforced concrete. This is achieved by making use of data provided by subproject A03 for plants. From this data, several modules are defined, reproduced, adjusted to structural requirements from civil engineering construction, and finally simulated in an efficient manner. Based on a novel combination of substructuring techniques, model order reduction, and combinatorial analysis, a screening algorithm is developed that automatically assembles these elements into biologically inspired structures.
