The aim of the subproject is the development of a new methodology for characterising the load-bearing mechanisms (compression softening, aggregate interlocking, mixed-mode fracture as well as dowel action of carbon reinforcement) activated in carbon reinforced concrete membranes. Based on this, material-specific compression field models will be developed which allow a realistic assessment of structural behaviour and deformation capacity of membranes with non-metallic reinforcements under plane stresses. These models constitute the theoretical basis for implementation of material-minimised membrane structures made of carbon reinforced concrete.
