This project aims to investigate the role of cyclic GMP (cGMP) signalling in myeloid cells during metaflammation. Although myeloid cells play an outstanding role in adipose tissue (AT) inflammation, not much is known about the signalling pathways involved. Our previous work shows that cGMP signaling is negatively affected in adipose tissue during obesity. In this project, we will identify the cGMP signalling components in AT-resident macrophages and the effect of cGMP on macrophage function during metaflammation. Furthermore, we will analyse cGMP signalling in vivo and in human macrophages during obesity and metaflammation.
