本研究は、精神科病院で5年以上の長期入院をしている患者を次々に退院に導いた、ある病棟の看護師の退院促進に対するモチベーションが、どのように醸成され、継続されているかを明らかにするために計画した。研究者の所属施設の倫理審査承認後、研究対象施設の倫理審査を受けるため当該施設管理者に研究の主旨を説明し、了承を得た後、準備を進めた。当初の予定では当該施設倫理委員に書類を回覧してもらって承認を得、今年度中にインタビューを終了する予定であったが、当該施設で外部者が研究員をつとめる研究が極めて珍しいということもあり、正式に倫理委員会を開催する場にかけるように指示された。その中で当該施設内に研究協力者を立てることが有効であると示唆を受け、当該施設管理者に推薦してもらった。そして研究協力者と研究の主旨、研究方法を共有するとともに、審査書類の作成と研究対象者の選定方法の再考などを実施していった。審査書類作成にあたっては当該施設倫理委員からの指導も仰いだ。2017年2月13日に倫理審査を受け、承認され、数名インタビューのアポイントもとっていたのだが、研究者の体調不良により研究継続を断念、補助金を辞退することになった。
