アジアでの昆虫類の種情報センターAIIC(Asian Insect Information Center)の基礎を確立させることを目的として、全国の大学・国立研究機関・地方自然史系博物館等に所蔵されている、アジア産昆虫類タイプ標本のデータベース化を行い、また、これまで個々の研究者が蓄積してきたアジア産昆虫類に関する種情報を集積、体系化して、URL(AIIC : http://aiic.jp)を立ち上げた。アジアにおける昆虫種情報の体系化とネットワーク化を推進し、インフラの充実をはかった。また、個々の研究者が専門とする昆虫群の分類学的研究を実施し、約50編の論文を出版した。

To establish the foundation of insect species information, AIIC(Asian Insect Information Center) aims to collect and systematize species information related to insect species stored in universities, national research institutes, and local natural history museums nationwide, and to establish URL(AIIC : http://aiic.jp). The systematization of insect species information is promoted and the information is fully developed. The taxonomic study of insect groups has been carried out by many researchers, and about 50 papers have been published.
