Patient-Doctor Communication for disclosure of prognosis

本研究旨在探讨向血液恶性肿瘤患者传达预后信息的最佳方式，并评估预后信息是否会影响患者的身体和/或心理状态。考虑到日本和英语国家的文化差异，我们制作了Butow等博士的问卷的日文版。测量患者对预后信息的递送方式的偏好。67例恶性血液病患者参加了研究，并评估了问卷的有效性。

This study was conducted to examine the best ways of communicating prognostic information to patients with hematological malignancies, and to assess whether the kind of prognostic information affects patients' physical and/or psychological status. By taking account of the differences of cultural differences between Japan and English-speaking countries, we have made Japanese version of questionnaire by Dr. Butow et. al. measuring patient preferences for the manner of delivery of prognostic information. Sixty seven patients with hematological malignancies were enrolled in the study and the validity of the questionnaire was evaluated.
