本研究課題は、変動相場移行後、様々な為替変動リスクに晒されてきた日本の輸出企業を対象に、複雑な貿易構造や為替戦略を加味した上で、輸出価格設定行動やその決定要因について分析を行う。具体的には、時変パラメータモデルを用いて輸出品目別の為替パススルー率を推計し、政府統計の企業個票データに基づく説明変数を構築して、為替パススルー率の決定要因を分析する。手法としてはまず、（1）品目固有の要素を考慮したうえで、輸出価格設定行動の変化を確認するために、時変パラメータとして為替レートパススルー率を輸出品目ごとに推計する。次に、（2）前段で推計したパススルー率を被説明変数として、パネル分析を行う。その際に、政府統計に使用される企業の個票データを輸出品目別に統合することで説明変数を構築する。本研究は、こうした国際的な生産連鎖を展開する日本企業の為替戦略を実証的に分析することで、先行研究にはない日本の輸出企業の価格設定行動の決定要因を研究し、マクロの経済現象への含意を導き出す。これまでの研究実績としては2005年から2018年までの為替データと輸出物価指数を活用し、カルマンフィルタの手法によってパススルー率を推計した。その結果、輸出品目間で大きくパススルー率が変わることが判明した。これは「研究の目的」で示した「輸出品目が最終財であるか中間財であるかによる為替戦略の違い」について一定の実証結果を示すこととなった。また、（2）政府統計の企業個票データとして、経済産業省の企業活動基本調査を活用し、説明変数を構築した。企業個票データは生産している主要品目を特定し、品目別のデータとマッチングさせている。
