Formation processes of clay fabric for fluid-mud deposits

实验形成的流体泥沉积物的粘土织物观察使用酒精替代干燥方法，可以最大限度地减少织物变形在干燥过程中的样品。结果，观察到以每个粘土颗粒面对面接触为特征的“粒状结构”。根据颗粒结构的粒度分布和单位面积出现的频率，将颗粒结构解释为流体泥浆中粘土颗粒密集堆积形成的保存絮凝体。在日本西南部佐贺以潮汐为主的六角河口的流体-泥浆沉积物中也观察到了粒状结构。

Clay fabric of experimentally formed fluid-mud deposits were observed using an alcohol-replacing drying method that can minimize fabric deformation during drying processes in samples. As a result,"granular structure" characterized by face-to-face contact of each clay particle was observed. The granular structures are interpreted as preserved flocs formed by densely packed clay particles in the fluid mud on the basis of size distribution and frequency per unit area of the granular structures. The granular structures were also observed in fluid-mud deposits of the tide-dominated Rokkaku River estuary, Saga, southwest Japan.
