How Interaction of Family Friendly Policies and Firm Decisions Affects Fertility

A lot of work for the project has been done. We created a working version of the dataset and performed most of the necessary data work, such as calculation of all the necessary statistics for project motivation and for model estimation. We have built a model, programmed it and got preliminary estimates of the model and ran preliminary counterfactual experiments. We find that family-friendly policies affect how firms take decisions on employment of women and, consecutively, reflect in their fertility. Most of family-friendly policies that result in increase in fertility affect negatively labor market outcomes, and those policies that affect positively labor market outcomes, affect fertility in a negative way.
