项目摘要

当該年度は、本研究の目的である、桂離宮御殿整備工事の実態と理念の解明し、さらに桂離宮御殿整備工事および同時期に修理された他の事例における合成樹脂を使用した修理箇所の現状を明らかにし、現代の修理における影響を考察するため、以下の調査・研究をおこなった。１つ目は、桂離宮御殿整備工事において、修理の指導をおこなった懇談会委員の修理理念の考察である。桂離宮御殿整備工事の一次資料をはじめ、修理に携わった専門家が執筆した書籍など、合成樹脂に関する懇談会委員の発言をデータ化し、専門家の間で当時どのような意見が交わされていたのかの分析をおこない、昭和戦後期の専門家の文化財修理理念の考察に努めた。来年度は、これらのデータに加え、修理に携わった修理技術者などに、専門家による指導の実態や、当時の修理技術者の修理の意識についてヒアリング調査をおこない、桂離宮御殿整備工事の実態と理念について研究を進める予定である。２つ目は、桂離宮御殿整備工事における合成樹脂の使用状況と劣化状況の把握のため、現在、屋根葺き替えのため工事足場が組まれている古書院・中書院の垂木・桁に使用されている調査をおこなったことである。また、調査後は、調査記録、写真などのデータ整理をおこない、桂離宮御殿整備工事における合成樹脂修理の実態の解明をおこなった。来年度は、引き続き現地調査をおこない、使用状況と劣化状況を把握することに加え、桂離宮御殿整備工事と同時期に合成樹脂修理がおこなわれていた国宝・如庵など、他の修理事例についても合成樹脂の使用状況と劣化状況の調査をおこない、桂離宮御殿整備工事と他の事例を比較しつつ、戦後昭和期の合成樹脂修理の特徴を考察する予定である。
