身体運動を精確に行う際には、注視の安定性が重要な要因の一つであると考えられている。そこで本研究課題では、両眼を用いた注視時における利き目と非利き目の挙動を個別かつ同時に分析することにより、３次元空間において安定した注視を実現するための利き目の寄与に関する知見を得ることを目的とした。本年度は、左右水平方向の各位置に呈示される視標に対して、頭部角度を固定した状態で一定の視線方向を維持させる際の両眼の挙動を測定し、左右眼間の差異について比較検討することを目的とした実験を行った。実験参加者は、左右眼の水平方向の眼球運動を個別に記録するための眼球運動測定装置を装着した。実験は暗室下にて行い、実験参加者の眼前に視覚ターゲットとなるLEDを呈示した。中央および左右水平方向に設置されたLEDの点灯に対して、頭部を台に固定した状態で視線を移動させ、点灯した位置を４秒間注視した。その後LEDが５秒間消灯して完全に暗室の状況下になった後も、できるだけ注視位置を維持するように実験参加者に教示した。その結果、右利き目および左利き目いずれの実験参加者においても、LED消灯後の利き目の視線方向は非利き目に比べ安定していた。また、左利き目の実験参加者は、左側に呈示されたLEDに対し注視位置を維持する際に、非利き目である右眼の視線方向が消灯後内側に移動した。一方、右利き目の実験参加者は、右側に呈示されたLEDに対し注視位置を維持する際に、非利き目である左眼の視線方向が消灯後内側に移動した。本実験から、記憶された目標位置へ向けての両眼注視を維持する際には、利き目と非利き目がそれぞれ異なる挙動を示し、利き目は非利き目よりも安定した視線方向を示すことが示唆された。
