Four times field observations were carried out at the shelf edge of the East China Sea from 1996 to 2000 in order to clarify the detailed structure of the Kuroshio frontal eddy. CTD and ADCP observations were conducted across the shelf edge every day during one week to elucidate the variability of water temperature, salinity, current, turbidity and nutrients due to the passing of a frontal eddy.As a result, we can find that the Kurosio frontal eddy has a wave length of 200 km, a period of 10 days and a phase speed of 30 cm/sec. The warm and salty water is advected to the onshore side by this eddy and the cold and fresh water to the offshore side. Accompanying with this frontal eddy, the sub-surface Kuroshio water with high concentration of nutrients upwells along the shelf edge and is transported to the shelf.The Kurosio frontal eddy is geberated by the baroclinic instability of the Kuroshio. We have to clarify the quantitative role of the Kuroshio frontal eddy in the water exchange between the shelf water and the Kurosio water across the shelf edge of the East China Sea.
为了研究黑潮锋面涡的详细结构,1996 ~ 2000年在东海陆架边缘进行了4次野外观测。通过连续一周的CTD和ADCP观测,研究了黑潮锋面涡旋通过后,陆架边缘的水温、盐度、海流、浊度和营养盐的变化,结果表明:黑潮锋面涡旋的波长为200 km,周期为10 d,相速度为30 cm/s。暖盐水通过这个涡流平流输送到陆地一侧,冷淡水输送到离岸一侧。伴随着这种锋面涡的产生,黑潮表层下高浓度营养盐的水沿陆架边缘沿着上涌并被输送到陆架,黑潮的斜压不稳定性产生了黑潮锋面涡。我们必须弄清黑潮锋面涡在东海陆架水与黑潮水交换中的定量作用。
