Dental treatment causes dentists to many uncomfortable posture. However it is not clear whether or not, that fixing position of mannequin may cause stress to dentists. The secific aim of this study is to verify the relatdentists' posture and their stress.Twelve subjects were devided into two group. Control group(Adjustable) was allowed to adjust the position of mannequin during cuting teeth with high-speed rotary cutting instrument. Experimental group(Fixed) was not allowed to adjust the position of mannequin. Urine samples were collected at early morning, before experiment and after experiment. Urine samples were again collected each morning for 2 days to establish control data baseline. Concentrations of creatinine, 17-OHCS, 17-KS-S and catecholamine(adrenaline, noradrenaline) were measured. Creatinine ratios of 17-OHCS, 17-KS-S and catecholamine were calculated. Posture of the subjects who cut teeth with high-speed rotary cutting instrument were taken at angles from both side and back. Experimental and control levels were compared and analyzed statistically using ANOVA about urine and posture. The result was as follows. In some measurement angle of posture significant difference was found between control group and experimental group(p<0.001).There was no significant change of creatinine ratio on any of the neuroendocrine hormones (p<0.05). This suggests that fixing position of mannequin may cause difference of posture but fixing position of mannequin may not cause stress to dentists.
