The result of this scientific research is summarized as as belowStudies on the first-class active faults along the margin of the several large-scale alluvial plains were carried out for clarifying their fault topography and subsurface structure. There are Yoro-Kuwana fault system along the western margin of Nohbi plain, Katagihara fault along the margin of Kyoto basin, Komatubara fault along the southwestern margin of Nagano basin, Ikoma fault in the northeastern margin of Osaka plain, active fault belt along the western shore of Lake Biwa, Median Tectonic Line Fault system (Tokushima plain), submarine faults along the southern margin of the Japan Sea, northern Los Angels fault system in Los Angels basin and so onWe have carried out geomorphological survey, geophysical prospecting, drilling, trench excavation, and collected the information on deformation mode and subsurface structure along the major active faults, displacement rate and age for fault activity. Especially, sampling by using geoslicer and continuous analysis for these cores have clarified the most recent activity, reccurrence interval and slip rate, etc
