Basic Research on Slope Failure Mechanism of Shirasu in Southern Part of Kyushu Island

本研究是北村等人提出的建立降雨引起的边坡失稳预测系统项目的一部分。在本学年（2003年）进行了以下研究，即，（1）在仙台川大堤和鹿儿岛县前之滨坡地上设置了吸力、土壤温度和降水量的现场测量装置，两个地点的地表都覆盖有白苏。（2）利用室内土工试验、土槽试验和现场实测资料，采用Kitamura提出的数值模型和力学模型，进行了数值模拟。（3）讨论和检验了预测系统中需要解决的问题。最后，对本研究进行了总结。

This research occupies a part of the project to establish the prediction system for the slope failures due to rainfall that was proposed by Kitamura et al.In this educational year (2003) the following research was carried out, i.e., (1)the field measurement units for suction, temperature in soil and precipitation were set up at the levee of Sendai River and slope of Maenohama, Kagoshima Prefecture, where the surface ground of both sites was covered with Shirasu. (2)the numerical simulation was carried out by using the data obtained from the laboratory soil test, soil tank test, field measurement and applying the numerical & mechanical models proposed by Kitamura, (3)the issues to be solved in the prediction system were discussed and examined. Finally the report for this research was made up.
