A Study of Clarification of Literary Meaning by the Structural Search of Illustrations in a Printed Book "Pictorial Description of the Noted Places"

本文试图通过对《阿波名胜图鉴》中各母题的插图进行分类分析，编制母题索引。首先，59幅插图被安排在3,000个项目的主题中，然后被分为大约40个类别，每个类别又被进一步分为几十个项目的低层类别。为所有类别提供检索功能，从而建立了具有结构化检索功能的主题索引。以下两点成为可能：通过与该主题索引的相互关系分析图片，以及澄清未被注意的图片细节。最后，给出了插图理解中数据使用的案例，本文试图提出一种新的教学方法，即利用和歌诗和配有说明文字的插图来学习表达，并对这种方法在小学和初中两个班级中的实践进行了总结高中。

This paper attempts to draw up the motif-index by classifying and analyzing the illustrations of Pictorial Description of the Noted Places of Awa in every motif. First, 59 illustrations were arranged within the motif of 3,000 items, and then classified into about 40 categories, each of which is further divided into lower-layered categories of dozens of items. All categories were supplied with the search function, and thus the motif-index with the function of structural search was created. The following two points became possible : analysis of the pictures by mutual relationship with this motif-index, and clarification of details of pictures that have been unnoticed. Ultimately, the cases of the data use for comprehension of illustrations were presented here, and also a new method of clarifying their relationship with literary works and of reviewing the literary quality was suggested.This paper attempts to present a new teaching method of learning of expression by the use of waka poems and illustrations with captions and also to exemplify the method that was practiced in the two classes at primary and junior high schools.
