本研究は文化芸術活動を経済活動として体系的に整理した統計を作成し、分析することであるが、本年度は供給面、需要面について以下の7点について研究成果を得た。1 ユネスコ、EU、オーストラリア、フィンランド等における取り組みを検討したところ、教育や建築物の取扱いに差があることが判明した。日本については、統計の所在状況を勘案して、文化・芸術活動に関する体系案を作成した。2 最近時における文化・芸術関係の財の生産額を推計したところ、およそ10兆円となった。その内訳を見ると10年前と比較して鑑賞・レジャー用品が減少傾向にあるが、カメラを中心とした趣味関係の財の生産がのびていることが判明した。3 文化・芸術のサービスの生産については13兆円と推計され、財の生産と合計すると23兆円の市場規模を持ち、GDPのおよそ4.5%を占める。4 この10年間で6兆円の増加であった。また、サービスの構成比も44%から56%へ増加し、文化・芸術活動の分野においてもサービス化の進展が確認された。5 文化・芸術活動の需要面についての分析では『社会生活基本調査』(総務省)の趣味・娯楽に関するデータを利用して、一人が行う種目数と各種目の行動者率の関係を検討した。6 大部分の生活行動は若い時代に何らかの手ほどきを受けていて、普及の源泉になっていることが判明した。特に、「楽器の演奏」や「邦楽」のような趣味・娯楽活動に於ける「習熟型種目」の普及には学校教育の影響が大きい。7 また、文化・芸術を鑑賞する機会の多くは家庭にあり、演劇、映画、あるいは美術鑑賞を家族と共に親しんでいる。一方、カラオケ、競馬のような大衆娯楽は友人と行うことが契機となっていることも実証的に確かめられた。
