本研究では，理論構築面を（1）タスクの性質，（2）教育選択，（3）共同意思決定，（4）家庭内生産と経済成長，（5）教育投資・能力分布の5つの小テーマに分割して作業し，並行して（6）実証分析面の作業を進めることを予定している。研究初年度にあたる2022年度においては主に小テーマ（1）と（2）について作業を行った。ここでの主な知見は次の通り：熟練・未熟練労働間の賃金格差の存在が，個人をして教育を受けることへの誘因を与えている。したがって，格差が生み出されるメカニズムの違いが，具体的な教育選択の様態を左右することになる。既存研究においては，産業レベルの熟練・未熟練労働集約性の違い，タスクレベルの熟練・未熟練労働集約性の違い，企業の異質性と熟練偏向的生産性などが注目すべき要因として取り上げられている。また，教育が個人の能力の増進に役立つものであるという人的資本論の立場に立つのか，それとも高能力の個人が自身の能力の証しとするべく高レベルの教育を受けるというスペンス流のシグナリング理論の立場に立つのかでも，貿易自由化が教育選択に及ぼす影響は大きく変わってくる。さらに長期的には，親による子女への教育投資支出や相続財産の有無が後の世代の能力分布の形状にも影響している。このような貿易自由化と教育選択・職業選択に関する既存研究の主要論点を概観して貿易自由化の下での教育・職業選択のメカニズムについて理論的な観点から整理を行った。これらの他，小テーマ（3）から（5）についても予備的考察を開始し，（6）についてはタスク指標一覧の作成および産業連関表との突合などデータの整理を進めている。
