大越は、史料調査や本の収集、及びプエブラ州の村落での野外調査を行い、先住民の空間認識について、ユカタン地域の先住民の地図とプエブラ州の村落の植民地時代の地図との比較を行った。また、井上は、文献・フィールド双方の調査を進め、古代文明をどのように表象しているのかについての具体的な情報収集を順調に進めることができた。また、現地でしか入手できない資料の収集を行うこともできた。嘉幡は、メキシコ現代社会における「古代遺産の資源化」を理解するため、トレン・マヤ計画に関する情報収集をユカタン半島で行った。また、「古代人の空間認識」ついて、トラランカレカ遺跡での考古学調査を基に考察を進めた。一方杓谷は、カンクンからトゥルムにかけての現地調査にて、中小遺跡8件の現状を確認することができた（そのうち2件は初確認）。またチチェン・イツァ遺跡公園の地元住民の活動の観察を行い、遺跡周辺における動きが活発化している様子を確認できた。小林は、本研究課題のうち、先住民コミュニティにおける共同利用地の管理および空間認識について、および先住民族の文化的伝統の再活用の実態について、それぞれ実地調査を実施した。前者に関しては、2013年に発生した土砂災害からのコミュニティ再建のプロセスを中心に調査を進めた。青木は、20世紀なかばにメキシコの子どもたちが書いた作文を数編分析し、子どもたちがメキシコの社会や歴史をどのように認識しているか検討した。また、メキシコ国立図書館において、二言語二文化教育に関する資料調査をおこない関連の資料を収集した。さらに渡辺は、先スペイン期遺跡の調査・開発の歴史と遺跡周辺状況の変遷との関連を確認するため、メキシコ国立図書館所蔵の地図資料から選出した資料を精査した。また先スペイン期とコロニアル期それぞれの文化遺産に付与された意味と価値の考察を、所蔵品の履歴と現在の展示から進めている。
