Research on individual statutes concerning personal information protection laws

Based on this research, I could publish 2 books and more than 20 articles during this period. I have spent lots of time to find out outdated statutes from the viewpoints of personal information protection. The Family Register Law, the Basic Resident Register Law, the Statistics Law are the main examples. Those laws did not meet the minimum requirements for personal information protection. Fortunately, those laws were amended or the amendment bills were submitted to the Diet during this period. I have also spent considerable amount of time for research on personal information protection in medical care and education. In those areas, it is important to do research on personal information protection guidelines let alone statutes. I have published articles concerning this point and made some recommendations for improvement. Local governments own huge amount of personal information and therefore, it is essential that each local government enact personal information protection ordinances. It is great news that all prefectures and municipalities now have personal information protection ordinances. However, it is not enough. There are some personal information protection ordinances that need improvement. Thus, I have published several articles concerning personal information protection ordinances and made some concrete suggestions to amend those ordinances.
