鳥取県の東郷池において、深さ約30mのボ-リングを行った。この資料はさまざまな研究班の分析に供することになっている。メンバ-による研究内容は以下の通りである。(1)最終氷期の海水準低下は、日本列島周辺域では一様でなく、30m程度の地域性がある。これは海水準の増加に対するレスポンスが地域によって異なるためである。同様に1万年前の海水準も位置によって20m程度異なることが判明した。過去6千年間の氷河性海面変化に関しては、湾の内部に位置する地点では、6千年前に2〜3mの高海面を持つ海面変化が得られ、半島の突端域に位置する地点では、現海面が一番高い海面変化曲線がえられた。(2)山陰地方の海岸砂堆のほとんどは、内部に基盤岩を含んでおり、砂堆はこれを核として発達している。砂堆背後のラグ-ンの理積は古代以降に除々に進み、近世になって排水路が開削されたものが多い。神西湖がその例であり、天神川の改修も近世に行われている。(3)玄海灘に面した唐津、早良、福岡の各平野の地形環境分析を行ったところ、平野の性格がかなり異なることが明らかになった。すなわち唐津平野は、ラグ-ンと砂堆の発達で特徴づけられるLタイプに属し、早良平野は、扇状地の発達の良いFタイプに属する。両者で平野の形成時期は異なる。また、福岡平野では段丘の発達がみられ、T,L,F各タイプの複合型に属する。(4)「伯き国河村郡東郷荘下地中分図」の検討と現地調査を行い、絵図の現地比定と汀線の変化を明らかにした。
