イスラムの都市性について、その形態と景観を学際的交流を通じて研究することにした。都市を屋根、壁面,舗石などの形態要素に分解し、その複合体としての住戸、モスク、市壁、広場などの景観構成要素について考察し、形態と景観その多重的構造として把えようとするものである。イスラム都市の特性を明らかにするため、イスラム圏以外の都市の形態と景観と比較、対照して明確にしたいとかんがえている。以上の視点にたって、今年度はその第1年度として、長野、東京、京都の三地点で研究交流の集会をもった。長野では、善光寺門前町を実地に踏査し、都市空間の理解の認識座標をえることにつとめた。同時に研究者がそれぞれ、パキスタン、カシュガル、インドネシア、トルコの都市について紹介した。ひきつづいて、東京では、G班、都市のコスモロジーと共同研究会をもち、都市の形態と景観についてそのコスモロジーの関連について討議した。京都での集会では、本年度C班の集結の研究集会として、パキスタンのイスラム都市-ムルタンとラホール-で、イスラム都市にみる基層文化と外来文化としてのイスラムについて考察し、前回にひきつづいてカシュガルについて18-20世紀の都市の復原的考察をすすめ、ヤルカンドと対照して考察した。また、トルコのイスラム都市の構造を都市図をもとにして考察し、日本の都市との対比的考察をすすめた。また、パキスタン北部地域のフンザ、西北辺境州のノウグラムなどの集落と聖廟建築に関する実地調査による報告を特別参加の形で行った。イスラム都市の形態と景観に関する研究の第一歩をかためることができた。来年度はこの成果の上に、宗教聖域論のもとに再開発をすすめている天理市、門前町琴平を対象として調査し、イスラム圏の都市の宗教空間と対比して考察したい。同時に東京および箱根で共同研究集会をもつことにしている。
