项目摘要

本年度は本計画研究の最終年度であり、本班としては過去4年間の研究活動を踏まえて、資源としての小生産物のとらえ方にっいて理論的側面からの総括に最重点をおいた。従来同様、研究会活動を通して「小生産物」の諸側面についての議論を重ねる中で、まず小生産物とは何かを明確に定義し、次いで小生産物がいかなる意味で資源たり得るかを検討した。それらの議論を踏まえ、班員各々の関心領域に沿った成果発表にとりかかった。研究会活動を通して浮かび上がった小生産物は三つの次元に分けて捉えうる。第1は顕示的次元の小生産物であり、これは有用性と消費性の区別が困難なものであり、贅沢品とも言えるものである。隠された高価さを巧妙に顕示するところに特徴がある。第2の次元にあるのは民芸的次元の小生産物であり、柳宗悦がいうところの民芸概念に近いが、日常用いられるところに美が現れるものである。そして、第3には商品と非商品との狭間的な次元にあるものであり、人々が自分たちの日常生活に資するものとして作るものでありながら、それが何らかの契機によって交換されたり、売買されるようになったものである。廃品の活用などもこの次元にある小生産物として捉えられる。2006年12月9日、10日に開催された資源人類学国際シンポジウムにおいて、班員の湖中真哉は上記のような小生産物概念に基づき、ケニアの牧畜民サンブル社会における廃品活用の事例を元にマイナー・グローバリゼーションという考え方を提唱している。資源人類学全体の成果を示す論集は2007年秋に刊行の予定であるが、本班班員は論集第4巻となる「躍動する小生産物」と題する1冊のための原稿執筆をおこなった。
