Animal studies are essential for investigating complex biological processes and diseases. The research projects of the applicants apply “in vivo live imaging” studies in tumor biology and therapy, inflammation and immunology, cardiovascular and neurological diseases. The instrument should enable multiparametric, high-resolution luminescence and fluorescence analyses in small animals in order to obtain insight into the development of diseases and test novel therapeutic approaches. The following specifications are required: 1) non-invasive 2D Fluorescence- and Bioluminescence imaging of several mice in parallel; 2) fast 2D Trans-Illumination for high sensitivity of fluorescence-tomography in deep-set tissues; 3) 3D imaging to exactly assess the spatial distribution of diseases such as tumors or inflammation; 4) multiparametric studies of several fluorescence markers together with luminescence to enable analyses of complex interactions of different cell types; 6) analyses tools according to international standard for a better comparison to published studies; 7) an integrated anesthesiology device for efficient conduction of the experiments
