本研究の目的は、思春期心疾患児の社会的スキル向上をめざした看護支援モデルを構築するため、思春期心疾患児が生活の中で経験する困難や葛藤とその具体的な対策方法、ならびに友人関係、社会的コンピテンスの特徴を明らかにすることである。そして、思春期心疾患児の社会的スキル向上をめざした看護支援モデルを作成することで、思春期患児への新たな看護支援法の基盤を確立できるのではないかと考えた。2017年度、第1研究として、思春期心疾患児が生活の中で経験する困難や葛藤とその具体的な対策方法を明らかにするために、成人に達した先天性心疾患患者を対象に、中学生や高校生時代（思春期）に経験した生活上の困難や葛藤とその対処方法について面接を行い、その特徴を把握することを研究計画としていた。しかし、研究実施に先立ち、今を生きる心疾患をもつ思春期の子どもの現状および問題点を明らかにする必要があると考え、思春期心疾患児を対象とした調査研究に研究計画を修正し、2018年度、国内外の文献検討を行った。その結果を踏まえて、2019年度は改めて研究計画の修正を行い、研究対象者の変更、ならびに対象者の年齢が変わることによる研究方法等への倫理性、妥当性の検討を行った。2020年度にデータ収集に着手する予定としていたが、新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染拡大に伴い、調査対象者への直接的接触が困難な状況となり、研究計画を見直し、研究倫理審査の申請を行うことを計画した。研究倫理審査申請に向け、申請書の作成途中であったが、事業の廃止により研究倫理審査の申請を見送った。
