项目摘要

Nine persons ( Y. Taniguchi, H. Suto, T. Hasegawa, K. Wakamatsu, M. Tanaka, K. Iwasawa, F. Sato, Y. Sofue, and K. Ogura ) were delegated for astronomical observations with various wavelengths in the optical, infrared and radio regions.The objectives are 1) interstellar medium ( Suto, Tanaka, and Ojura ) 2) galaxies ( Taniguchi, Iwasawa, and Sfue ), and 3) clusters of falaxies ( Hasegawa, Wkamatsu ).The countries or areas where their activities were devoted are Mauna Ken (JCMT and UKIRT), Greenbank, USA, and Bonn, Germany, in the northern hemisphere and Cerro Tololo, La Silla in Chile and South Africa.1)Suto made infrared imaging for 15 star-forming regions at J, H, and K bands. A remarkable complex of nebulosities was detected around infrared source IRAS 11072-7727. Ogura carried out an observation of Herbig-Haro objects HH135/136, which had been discovered by himself, with CO lines at 1.3 and 1.4 mm at SEST (Swedish-ESO) telescope. A high-velocity molecular outflow was detected in the … More 12CO(J=2-1) emission line at 1.3mm, while a dense molecular core encompassing thetwo HH objects was revealed in the 13CO(J=2-1).Sato made an extensive survey of a Cepheus-Cassiopeia complex region with neutral hydrogen at a wavelength of 21cm with NRAO Greenbank 43m radio telescope, USA. In the survey, he delineated the neutral hydrogen cloud enveloping the complex, and a shell structure with a diameter of 10゚ degrees locating at a galactic longitude 110゚ and a galactic latitude 3゚ .2)Taniguchi found that temperature of circumnuclear clouds in the star-burst galaxies is significantly higher than that of normal molecular clouds in our galaxies.Tanaka detected a broad width of H2 molecular line for a Seyfert/cD galaxy, NGC1275 with a spectral resolution of 30 km/s.Iwasawa obtained spectra in the optical regions of 17 galaxies with CTIO 1.5m telescope. He found a spectrum exhibiting the typical Seyfert 2 in IRAS18325-5926, which was designated to Seyfert 1 from the X-ray observations by Ginga. He also detected a bump at Fell lambda 4570 in Tololo 0109-38, and a blue compact dwarf galaxy associated with Mkn603.Sofue tried to detect the CO absorption line toward three quasars or related objects with the redshifts of 2 to 3, using the Bonn 100 m radio telescope in Germany, but failed to detect it with sufficient signal-to-noise ratios.3)Hasegawa made a measurement of recession velocities for 50 galaxies in the cluster of galaxies in Ophiuchi constellation using RPCS low-resolution spectrometer at 1.9m telescope in South Africa. He discovered new clusters of galaxies. Combining the clusters of galaxies previously discovered by himself and his colleagues, he concluded that these clusters of galaxies form a supercluster of galaxies, and there lies a huge void between the supercluster and us.Wakamatsu carried out an extensive spectroscopic survey for the above region with the Cassegrain spectrometer at CTIO 1.5m telescope, Chile. The above super-cluster extending toward Hercules cluster of galaxies shows 'Wall' structure with an extent of 100 Mpc.Thus, a various field of researches were carried out in this program, covering interstellar medium, activities in the galaxies, and structures of the clusters of galaxies. A number of papers with high levels were published or are in preparation. Without the access to the telescopes located at the excellent sites in the world, these success could not be attained.
