研究代表者の小西は、ブリュッセルの欧州委員会公文書館、パリ郊外のフランス国立公文書館およびフランス経済財政公文書館での資料収集などを通じて、欧州共通付加価値税とEC予算の関連について分析した。研究分担者の茂住は、National Archives I、National Archives College Park、Special Collections and University Archives, University of Oregonでの資料収集などを通じて、1940～1972年までのアメリカにおける連邦付加価値税導入をめぐる議論と、導入の失敗に関する歴史的要因について研究を行った。同じく研究分担者の髙橋は、1960年代から1970年代までの日本における付加価値税導入をめぐる議論と導入の失敗に関する歴史的要因について研究を行った。この研究成果を、小西・茂住が企画したWorld Economic History Congress（国際学会、パリ）のセッションにおいて、海外の研究協力者らとともに発表した。加えて、小西は2022年度政治経済学・経済史学会秋季大会で、茂住は日本財政学会第79回大会で研究の成果の一部を報告した。さらに、小西の査読付き論文が受理され、社会経済史学会の学会誌『社会経済史学』に掲載された。また、国際的な研究交流の一環として、海外研究協力者のFrederic Tristram氏（パリ第一パンテオン・ソルボンヌ大学）をフランスから招聘し、日仏会館（東京）でフランスの税の受容と抵抗に関する公開セミナーを主催した。当該年度の後半は、個々の研究と並行して、2023年末に予定されている日本での国際カンファレンスに向けて、国内外の研究者の招聘の準備やプログラムの作成を進めた。

The data collection of the European Commission Public Library, the National Public Library, and the European Commission Public Finance Public Library were analyzed by the authors of the study. Kaitō, Konishi presented a report on the results of their research at the 2022 Autumn Conference of the Society of Political Economics and Economic History, and the 79th Conference of the Japanese Finance Society. Today, Konishi's research papers were accepted and published in the Journal of the Society for Social History. Fredric Tristram, an international research collaborator (First International University), has been invited to participate in the recruitment process, and has been invited to participate in the tax tolerance process at the Tokyo National Association. In the second half of the year, research will be conducted in parallel, and by the end of 2023, international research will be conducted in Japan, and recruitment preparations for domestic and foreign researchers will be made.
