わが国では近年緩和ケアへのニーズが急激に高まっているが，緩和ケア従事者が死にゆく患者への関わりから受ける心理的負担は大きく，メンタルヘルスの不調やケアの質の低下に繋がることが指摘されている。こういった問題に対し，これまで医療従事者の死のとらえ方の観点から多くの検討がされてきた。本研究では，死のとらえ方に加え，新たに効果が見込まれる時間的展望の視点も取り入れた上で心理的アプローチをしていく。時間的展望は人生の見通しを示すものであり，この視点は終末期患者との関わりという体験に新たな意味づけを促すことが期待できる。以上を踏まえ、本研究では，死のとらえ方と時間的展望の観点から緩和ケア従事者のメンタルヘルスに寄与する新たな心理的アプローチのあり方を検討することを目的とする。令和3年度は，緩和ケアに従事する看護師を対象として，ターミナルケア態度に関連する要因について死のとらえ方や時間的展望を中心に検討するために，すでに実施していたアンケート調査の結果を量的に再分析した。その結果，どのような死のとらえ方であっても，適応的な時間的展望を有しているほど，ターミナルケア態度の積極性が増すことが明らかになった。これらの結果については，査読付き論文である『OMEGA - Journal of Death and Dying』に投稿し採択された。また，緩和ケアに従事する看護師を対象に，時間的展望理論を応用した終末期患者に寄り添うことを支援するプログラムを考案し，その効果検証を行った。その結果，プログラムに参加することでターミナルケア態度の向上や，関連する要因の前向きな変化が見られ，一定の有効性が示された。これらの結果は，学会や論文等で順次発表する予定である。加えて，前年度までに実施した本研究の全体構想に含まれる質的調査や文献調査の研究結果について論文執筆を行い，雑誌に投稿し掲載された。
