2022年度に筆者は、『英会話タイムトライアル』（NHK出版）誌上の全12回の連載「現代に息づくアメリカ思想の伝統」を担当した。この連載において筆者は、アメリカ思想史の重要人物を各回ひとり取り上げ、その者の思想的レガシーが現在へどう受け継がれているかを──その者自身の言葉を引きながら──広汎な読者に対して最大限わかりやすく解説した。この連載は、アメリカ思想史という領域のアウトリーチに寄与したばかりでなく、筆者自身のアメリカ思想史観の解像度を高めるうえでも大いに有意義であった。研究計画で掲げた探究対象のうち、「アメリカ自然主義文学は、世紀転換期のアメリカ哲学（なかでも当時「自然主義」と呼ばれた哲学的立場）とどう接続しているのか」という問いについては、雑誌『ワスプ』（19世紀末から20世紀前半にかけてサンフランシスコで発行）に載った諷刺画を調査することによって研究上の進展を得た。この進展に関する口頭発表を筆者は、「世紀転換期アメリカ思想史におけるタコの形象──フランク・ノリスとウィリアム・ジェイムズの共通項を探る」というタイトルで、2022年6月4-5日に催されたアメリカ学会第56回年次大会のなかでおこなった。タコに関する表象分析に従事している筆者の現在の研究は、アニマル・スタディーズという新興の学問分野とも接点を持つ。アニマル・スタディーズの興隆は、近年のポストヒューマニズム的思潮（人間中心主義からの脱却をいっそう推し進めようとする思想的傾向）とも関連していると考えられる。このポストヒューマニズム的思潮について筆者は、『群像』第77巻第7号（2022年7月）掲載の論文「爽やかな人間中心主義──批評とポストヒューマニズム的思潮」のなかで考察した。
