パラ超関数とはシュヴァルツ超関数をふくみ、シュヴァルツ超関数とパラ超関数との積が常にパラ超関数として定義されるような超関数のクラスである。このときのシュヴァルツ超関数とパラ超関数の乗法は、無限回微分可能な関数と、シュヴァルツ超関数とのシュヴァルツ超関数の意味での乗法の一般化となっており、結合法則は成立しないが数理物理に応用可能な自然なものである。デルタ関数の巾なども当然パラ超関数として定義され、直観的に数理物理で使用されていた等式がパラ超関数の意味で厳密に成立する。この理論に対し、佐藤超関数に対するアナロジー、擬似トポロジーの導入、定義域と値域がずれるフーリエ変換が構成できたが、あまり満足ができる体系ではなかった。また一変数パラ超関数に対しては、トレースに対する解釈にこの理論が有効であることがわかった。
