本研究の目的は人工内耳装用者の音楽聴取能の改善のために最適な楽曲演奏音を探索しその音の音響学的特徴の検討を行うことである。期間中、本研究の第1段階として3種類の演奏音を作成し、4曲演奏し、それらを人工内耳装用者に提示し、音楽の認知が可能か否かを検討した。 (対象と方法)23例(男3例、女20例)の人工内耳装用者を対象とした。平均人工内耳使用期間は17.5ヶ月である。聴取楽曲は対象者にとって馴染みのある「もみじ」「どんぐりころころ」「あおげば尊し」「赤とんぼ」の童謡唱歌4曲を用いた。これら4曲は、コンピュータで作成した琴主旋律演奏+ピアノの伴奏(A)、琴単独主旋律演奏(B)、2オクターブ高い琴単独主旋律演奏(C)の3種類の音で演奏させた。結果的に作成された楽曲数は童謡唱歌4曲が3種類の演奏方法によったので計12曲である。それぞれの演奏はMDに記録され、ラインを介して直接対象者に提示された。対象者はclosed set法により提示された楽曲が4曲のうちのいずれかであるか質問された。 (結果)各演奏音ごとの正答率は (A)は65.2%、(B)は70.7%,(C)は72.8%で単独演奏ほど聞き易いことを示した。また、曲ごとの正答率は「もみじ」は65.2%、「どんぐりころころ」は84.1%、「あおげば尊し」は87.0%、「赤とんぼ」は42.0%であり、リズムが特徴的な曲ほどよく分かる結果であった。(考察)本期間中は人工内耳装用者の音楽聴取の可能性について検討した。従って、日常使用している会話聴取に最適なMAPをそのまま使用した。closed setではあるが、演奏を単純にすれば容易に音楽が認知可能であることが分かった。そしてその手がかりはリズムであった。任意な音楽認知においてはある程度旋律の把握が不可欠であり今後の検討である。
