项目摘要

特定領域研究(A)『マゼラン星雲大研究』の平成10年度発足のために、研究目標をさらに深め、研究計画を最新の研究動向に対応させるための予備的研究を行った。具体的には以下のように研究を進めた。1.研究連絡会議(のべ8回)(1)総括班会議(3回)・領域の研究目標と各計画研究の役割・研究計画のブラッシュアップとそれに伴う研究費配分の変更・国外での研究活動が必要な場合の検討(2)赤外線望遠鏡・カメラ検討会議(5回)・カメラの仕様決定と具体的な光学設計、機械設計・望遠鏡の仕様決定と設置場所の検討2.国外研究者・メーカー技術者との打ち合わせ(2回)赤外線望遠鏡を設置して観測を行う際に協力を仰ぐ国外の研究者と打ち合わせを行うために、チリ共和国、アメリカ合衆国、および南アフリカ共和国を訪問した。またアメリカ合衆国では、望遠鏡メーカーの技術者と技術的な打ち合わせを行った。3.大研究会(1回)研究者相互の意見交換により問題意識を共有し研究の方向付けをよりシャープにするとともに、関連分野の研究者の参加を促すことを目標として、平成10年3月3日-4日に名古屋大学において『マゼラン星雲研究会』を開催した。参加者約60名。4.インターネットを利用した情報提供・アナウンス(随時)(1)『マゼラン星雲大研究ホームページ』による研究者への情報提供(2)日本天文学会電子メールグループ『tennet』上での、研究会等に関するアナウンス
