项目摘要

本研究は、近代日本における一般民衆の衛生規範がいかに構築されたのか明らかにするために、日常的な生活行為を行なう公衆浴場、理髪所、洗濯場が衛生化される過程を検討する。本年度の研究実績は以下6点である。（1）戦前から戦後における公設浴場を再考するために、日本で最初の公設浴場がある大阪の事例を検討し「大正期の社会事業と公設浴場―大阪市の事例を中心に―」として社会事業史学会で報告した。（2）公衆浴場、理髪所などの公的空間と病のつながりについて、「精神病者」との関わりに注目しながら、明治期から戦前までの法的規制を検討し、International Congress on Law and Mental Healthで、The Legal Treatment of Mental Health Patients in Public Places in Modern Japanとして報告した。（3）近代日本の衛生規範がいかに「国民性」と結びついたのか、明治期以降に展開した国民道徳論を中心に検討し「近代日本における清潔さという国民性の形成」として日本生命倫理学会で報告した。（4）前年度にイギリスで調査した、世紀転換期を中心に隆盛したPublic Bath Movementと日本の公設浴場設立における身体観と道徳観を比較した論文「Public Bath Movementと近代日本の公設浴場設立－身体観・道徳観に注目して－」が『生命倫理』（日本生命倫理学会）に掲載された。同論文は同学会の2015年度若手論文奨励賞を受賞した。（5）博士論文と本研究の公設浴場に関する部分を成果「近代日本の公衆浴場運動」として第二回法政大学出版局学術図書刊行助成を取得した。（6）近代日本における公衆浴場運動の広がりによる衛生規範の展開について、日本統治下の植民地の公衆浴場を検討すべく台湾の国家図書館などで調査した。

This study examines the process of sanitation in public baths, clinics, and washrooms in modern Japan. This year's research achievements are as follows: (1) A reexamination of the first public bath in Japan, Osaka Case Study,"Taisho Social Business and Public Baths-Osaka Case Center" Report by the Society for Social Business History. (2) Public baths, medical treatment centers, public spaces, mental patients, Meiji period, International Congress on Law and Mental Health, The Legal Treatment of Mental Health Patients in Public Places in Modern Japan. (3) Modern Japan's health standards have been revised to "national character" and the Meiji period has been launched. The National Moral Theory Center has discussed "the formation of national character in modern Japan" and "the Japanese Bioethics Society". (4)"Public Bath Movement and Establishment of Public Baths in Modern Japan- The 2015 annual paper award for the same paper will be awarded. (5) A part of the doctoral thesis related to this research,"Public bath movement in modern Japan," was published by the Academic Publishing Bureau of the Second Session of Hama University. (6) Public bath movement in modern Japan, the development of hygiene standards, the discussion of public baths in Japanese farming areas, and the investigation of the National Library of Taiwan.
