COVID-19感染拡大下で収束の目途が立たず、臨床施設からの研究協力が得られない状況であった。一方で、研究責任者と各研究分担者は、オンラインにて研究遂行にかかる研究計画の綿密な　検討を行い、調査開始の準備を進めている。現在までに新しく公表された、新生児及び早産児の睡眠・覚醒行動について文献レビューを更新し、その研究結果を踏まえ、観察調査を行う際の睡眠に影響する環境要因の抽出と人為的な睡眠阻害刺激（看護行為や環境要因）を整理した。これまでに研究責任者が行った研究では、保育器内の環境（音・光）測定において、設置場所や処置などにより正確なデータを得られていない可能性があった。そのため、安全かつ正確な観測ができるように、調査時の環境調整設定を検討中である。臨床施設に向けては、感染状況が落ち着いてきた頃に研究説明の機会を確保していただくように依頼している。また、研究責任者が他の科研分担者としてNICU早産児の睡眠に関するコホート的研究に参加し、長期的視野での良質な睡眠環境の意義について検討を進めている。
