本年度は当初の予定通り、以下の二つのテーマを中心に研究を進めた。A．「五胡十六国時代前史」については、後漢・三国時代における華北周辺勢力の基本的史料を精読・整理するとともに、中国における考古発掘の研究成果を収集・整理しつつ、特に、後漢代における鮮卑のモンゴル高原での拡大についての検討を行った。その結果、従来は北匈奴の勢力が崩壊してその首脳部が西方へすると、モンゴル高原に残された北匈奴の「余種」は皆、鮮卑に吸収され、鮮卑を名乗るようになったとされてきたが、鮮卑に吸収されず、そのまま勢力を維持していた北匈奴の集団の存在が明らかとなった。この点については、2022年8月10日に「鮮卑の西方拡大と「匈奴の余種」」と題して、戸隠の会夏季合宿にて報告を行った。さらにその知見を踏まえて、鮮卑のモンゴル高原における拡大が、従来の想定よりも限定的かつ緩やかなものであったことを確認し、2022年11月5日にオンラインで行われた国際学会の第十三届中国中古史青年学者聯誼会において「再論蒙古高原地区的鮮卑、匈奴勢力交替」と題して中国語で報告を行った。また、B．「五胡十六国時代の終焉と柔然の関係」についても、基本史料の精読・整理と、関連する発掘報告・図録および佚文史料を収集・整理し、柔然の対華北戦略と五胡十六国諸国の動向について分析を行った。その成果をもとに従来考えられてきた以上に、五胡十六国時代末期の国際情勢に柔然が大きな影響を与えていたことを確認できた。ここで得られた知見については現在投稿用論文を執筆中である。なお、COVID-19の流行と、それにともなう移動の制限により、当初予定していた中国における現地調査を果たす事ができなかった。しかし、近年の中国における考古発掘調査の報告書などが多く刊行されており、これらを入手・整理することで可能な限りの情報収集を行うことはできたと考えている。
