本年度は昨年度に収集できなかったサンプルの収集に加え、分類学的研究、生態の観察、分子実験等を行い、国内におけるマルハキバガ科の解明を進めることができた。分類学的研究では、九州、本州、沖縄県、小笠原諸島で採集を行ったほか、標本調査によって新たに不明種が見出され、1属を除いて幼虫の生態、食性が解明された。本州・九州において、旧北区に分布する日本未記録属の不明種を見出した。小笠原諸島において、日本未記録属かつ諸島固有と考えられる未記載種が得られ、産卵基質と初齢幼虫の生態も判明した。また、形態とDNA情報の検討から、本個体群が諸島内で形態的・遺伝的に分化していることが示唆された。本件に関しては論文の投稿を準備している。Schiffermuelleria属に関して、本州と琉球列島にて複数の不明種を確認し、形態比較と属の問題に関して日本鱗翅学会で発表した。また、以前より九州、本州の低地で得られていた本科の不明種に関して検討を進め、飼育によって幼虫期の生活史も解明し、日本未記録属Stereodytis属の新種として記載論文を出版した。また、本種の系統的位置や生態に関しても議論し、成果を日本昆虫学会で発表した。Promalactis属では、国内のタイプシリーズの確認を行い、いくつかの問題点を見出した。幼虫期の腐植物の分解機構では、昨年に続き腸内細菌叢解析のためのサンプルを追加したほか、一部の属に関して野外寄主と異なる寄主の摂食と羽化を確認し、潜在的な寄主範囲が広いことが示唆された。交尾器形態の進化に関して、特に属内多様性が高いPromalactis属で国内外の42種を用いた分子系統推定から、非対称な交尾器形態が特定のクレードで出現していることが示唆された。
