この研究は、"研究者の社会"において「日本の科学各分野が世界中で占めている研究役割・分担の度合い」、「日本の研究者の活動度、活動力の妥当性」、「ある研究分野での研究者集団の活動度と他分野集団の活動度との比較」といった問に答える為の業績評価手法を確立し、その手法にもとずいて定量的かつ定期的に研究分野の評価を行うことを目的として、今年度に開始された研究である。共同研究者の一人が、昭和60年9月まで海外出張をしていた為に、研究のスタートをきるのが年度後半となったこともあって、当初予定した研究実施計画の総てを達成することはできなかったが、それでも、今後の分析に必要不可欠な基礎データが入手できている。今迄、INSPECやCAS等のデータベース、又SCI等の引用文献に関する本をもとに、おおざっぱな分野としての物理、化学、電気電子、制御計算機等の分析、また特定の研究分野として原子核一素粒子理論の分析を行ってきた。この研究では今迄分析対象としてきたデータベースのデータが信頼に足るものであったかという検討のほかに、特定分野として、ライフサイエンス、核融合研究、情報科学の各分野を新たに追加し、今後の分析のもととなるデータをSCIから抽出した。さらに、日本における研究と、海外における研究を比較する為に、国外の著名な研究機関をピックアップし、分析を行う為のデータを抽出しているところである。これらデータが完全に揃ってから、今迄の分析手法が妥当であったかという検討も含め、分析を行う予定である。最後に、昭和61年4月から、全国共同利用機関として文献情報センター(仮称)が設立されるが、そこで計算機可読な形でINSPEC、SCIのデータが利用できるならば、もっと種々な場合についての検討が行え、分析手法の確立には大いに貢献するであることを付記しておく。
