これまで公表されていなかった諸資料の閲覧と収集によって、陸軍工廠(とくに陸軍造兵廠,大正12〜昭和14年)の全体像および海軍工廠(とくに大正期)の実態がかなり把握できた。陸軍工廠ではとくに(1)兵器生産の内容、(2)労働者の体位、健康状況が工廠当局者にとってきわめて重大視されていたこと、(3)労働運動への対処がいかに重要なものと認識されていたか、(4)工作機械の製造技術水準の低さをどう克服するかが、工廠にとって大きな課題であったこと、などがほぼ判明した。海軍工廠については、大正〜昭和初期を中心に、(1)これまで艦船建造を除いて殆ど不明であった塔載兵器や光学兵器などの具体的生産状況、(2)工廠内の労働運動の状況、(3)呉については、工廠の形成・発展と呉市の形成・発展との具体的関係など、がかなり解明できたと考えている。したがって、これまでの陸海軍工廠研究を大きく発展させる土台を作ることができたと確信している。ただし、研究課題に即してみれば、まだ不十分であり、とくに国際的技術水準とのかかわり、陸軍造兵廠形成前の陸軍工廠の実態解明が残されており、昭和62年度でこれらを研究したうえで、まとまった部分から逐次研究論文として公表していく予定である。この研究過程で、東京砲兵工廠、造兵廠(陸海軍)について「国史大辞典」(吉川弘文館)の項目執筆をおこない、研究成果を活用した。

The information collected in this report is available in the Army Factory (Taisho 12-Showa 14) and the Navy Factory (Taisho 12-Showa 14). Army workshops are concerned with (1) the content of weapons production,(2) the position and health of workers, and the importance of factory authorities,(3) the importance of sports, and (4) the low level of manufacturing technology of working machinery, and the identification of major problems in factories. The naval workshop is located at the center of the Taisho ~ Showa period;(1) the ship construction is unknown;(2) the specific production status of tower-mounted weapons and optical weapons;(3) the specific relationship between the formation, development and market development of the naval workshop. The research of the army and navy is very important. The research topic is the international technical level, the actual situation of the army factory before the formation of the army factory, and the research paper in Showa 62.
