本調査は, 中国に於ける漢族ならびにその周辺少数民族コミュニティーの実地調査を通して, 彼らの伝統的な社会組織や価値観が, 社会主義革命という激動期を経て, 更に文化大革命や近年急速に進みつつある産業化の過程で, どのような変容を遂げているのかを多角的に捉え中国社会に特有な組織原理を解明することを目的とする.現地調査に先立つ研究会においては, 蔵族地区, 広東福健の漢人農村,雲南貴州の白族等少数民族社会の研究における.(1)俊来の研究成果と問題点の整理.調査の方法と展望, 現地の研究者・機関とのコンタクト等について報告と討論が行われた.現地調査では, 江蘚省部市調査班は, 蘚州・南京・鎮江・揚州を中心に, 市・郷・鎮・村の各レベルの, 様々な業種と規模の新興郷鎮企業を対象として, 地域の文化的伝統との関係経営の形態, 職場内の社会組織, 従業員の技能形成と生活等に焦点を置いた調査を行ない, その発展の様相を考察した.またいくつかの農村では, 地域コミュニティーの変遷親族組織についても調査を試みた. 広東・福建の漢人農村調査班は, まづ汕頭地区で, 村落の形成発展のプロセスと, 宗族の系譜関係に関する調査を行ない, また廟における民間信仰,葬礼や祖先の祭祀に関する資料も蒐集した. 次に梅県において, 廟・書院・寺院等の現状の指察と周辺村落における社会組織の調査を行なった. 同様の都市近郊農村の概要調査は, 恵州・東莞・佛山・台山・恩平・順徳の各地区でも行なわれた. 雲南・貴州省では, 白族の勝落を中心としながら, その周辺の漢族・土家族・苗族・布依族・回族の村落を訪門して, 経済状況, 生活様式の特徴, 親族と祖先祭祀・族譜等について調査し, 中国西南民族研究学会・苗族・瑶族学術討論会にも出席して, 中国側研究者との研究交流を深めた. 四川省・青海省の蔵族のKham地方の調査では, 蔵族・漢族間の交渉史を踏まえて, 両者の生業関係と生態系・言語をはじめとする漢族文化の影響,政散的・経済的関係の動向を調査し, また, チベット佛教の寺院の活動とその社会的基盤に関する資料を蒐集した.

This investigation is aimed at exploring the social organization and development of ethnic minorities in China, the exciting period of socialist revolution, and the industrialization process of the Cultural Revolution.
