本研究は, 当初3年計画で申請したが, 昭和62年度, 単年度のみの助成となったことで, 弱貫, 研究計画の縮小, 変更を行った.まず, 対象児は, 1年間詳細に観察が可能である2名の脳性まひ児のみを対象にした. 1名は, 9歳の脳性まひ男児(A児)で, すでに歩行可能であり立ち上がり動作もなんとか可能である. 他の1名は, 11歳の脳性まひ男児(B児)で, 歩行可能であるが, 立ち上がり動作は獲得されていない. この2名の脳性まひ児に対し, 立ち上がり動作の獲得・安定を得るための訓練プログラム作成のため, 次の手順で動作の分析を行った.(1)身体各部位に生じる不当緊張の所在:頸, 肩, 躯幹, 腰, 股関節, 膝, 足首, 足指, 肘, 手首, 手指等に生じる不当緊張をチェックする.(2)各ステージでの姿勢の歪みとバランシング:膝立ち位→(支持脚への重心移動)→支持脚のりの膝立ち位→(出し脚の引き上げと踏み出し)→片膝立ち位→(出し脚への重心移動)→出し脚のりの片膝立ち位→(立ち上がり)→立位, という過程での各ステージで生じる姿勢の歪みとバランス取りの状態をビデオテープにより分析する.A児は, どちらの脚からの立ち上がり動作も可能であるが, 膝立ち位→片膝立ち位になる際に上体が傾き, 肩, 腰等に不当緊張が入り, 一瞬バランスがくずれそうになる. また, 立ち上がる際も, 足首, 膝が充分使いきれず, 適切に踏んばれない等, 細かな調整が課題となった.B児は, 膝立ち位で左脚にしか重心をのせられず, 右脚を踏み出しての片膝立ち位にはなんとかなれるが, 立ち上がりには至らない. 左脚の踏み出しは出来ないため, 膝立ち位での右脚のりや補助による片膝立ち位での出し脚での踏んばりが課題となった.
