今調査では高山盆地, 天生峠, 白木峰, 荒島, 冠山, 夜叉ヶ池, 芦生, 鷲ヶ峰にてニッコウキスゲの単位面積(5×5m^2)に出現する個体数, 個体の大きさ, 個体あたりの花茎数, 塑果数, 種子数および外部形態の各形質について調べ, さらにその付近の植物相について調査を行なった. また, それぞれの地域からニッコウキスゲを持ち帰り, C-バンドの分析を行なった. この地域ではニッコウキスゲHemerocallis middendorfii var esculentaはブナ帯域より下の高山盆地, ブナ帯域より上の1100〜1500mにある湿原あるいは山頂付近の草原, および亜高山帯域に分布する. 垂直的に異なるこれらの分布域でのニッコウキスゲの生育状態を比較してみると, 集団の大きさは亜高山帯域で最も大きく, 単位面積あたりの個体数も多いのに対し, 低地では集団は小さく, 個体もまばらに生育する. また花茎をつける個体の割合および1花茎あたりの塑果数は, 亜高山帯域の集団と天生峠の湿原に生育する集団が最も多く, 低地の集団が最も低い値を示した. この地域の個体にのみ出現する5対目の染色体の長腕介在部C-バンドは, 高山, 天生, 白山にのみ出現した. 集団内におけるこのC-バンドの出現頻度は高山, 天生, 白山の順に高い値を示す. 従ってこの介在部C-バンドは高山盆地付近のある個体に出現し, その後この種の分散と移動に伴ない亜高山帯域にまで拡がっていったものと推測される. この動きは氷期の寒い時代に低地にまで下りていた植物が後氷期になり温度が上昇するにつれて起った現象と推測される. 目下, ニッコウキスゲと共存する植物の分布を調べ, ニッコウキスゲと同様な移動を行なった植物について検討している最中である. また, この介在部C-バンドが出現する地域としない地域ではC-バンドが出現した後これらの地域集団間には遺伝的な交流がなかったことを示しており, これらの地域の間での植物相の違いについても整理中である.

In this investigation, the number of individuals, the size of individuals, the number of flower stems, the number of plastic fruits, the number of seeds, and the external morphology of each plant were investigated in the high mountain basin, Tiansheng Mountain, Baimufeng Mountain, Desert Island, Guanshan Mountain, Yaksha Lake, Lusheng Mountain, and Kujifeng Mountain. This phenomenon is supposed to occur during the cold season and in the lowlands during the late season.
