1.人骨の発掘収集(1)長崎県対馬の上県郡峰町佐賀貝塚および壱岐の石田町大久保遺跡から合計7体の人骨を発掘収集し, 復原した.(2)対馬佐賀貝塚の縄文人骨および壱岐大久保遺跡の弥生人骨についてマルチン氏の方法により人類学的計測を行なうとともに, 長崎大学および他大学保管の両時代人骨と比較検討した.2.人骨の形質(1)対馬の縄文人骨, 男性における脳頭蓋の長幅示数は80.54で, 短頭型に属していた. 顔面頭蓋では, 上顔高が64mm, 中顔幅が103mmで上顔示数は62.14であった. 歯の咬合は鉗子状咬合であったが, 風習的抜歯は確認できなかった. ピアソン氏の方法による大腿骨からの推定身長は160.83cmであった. 他地方縄文人骨との比較では, 九州本土の縄文人骨と酷似し, 津雲, 関東の縄文人骨とも比較的近似していた.(2)壱岐の弥生人骨, 頭蓋諸径が著しく大きく, 男性における脳頭蓋の長幅指数は79.29で中頭型に属していた. 顔面頭蓋では, 上顔高が72mm, 中顔幅が119mmで, 上顔示数は60.50であった. また鼻根部は陥没し, 縄文人的形態をとどめていた. 歯の咬合は鉗子状咬合で, 右側上顎犬歯に風習的抜歯が認められた. 推定身長は158.20cmであった. 他地方弥生人骨との比較では, 低身・低顔を特徴とする西北九州の弥生人骨と近似し, 長身・高顔を特徴とする北部九州・山口地方の弥生人骨, あるいは朝鮮半島の同時代人骨とは異なっていた.3.今後の方針壱岐・対馬は地理的にみて人類学上きわめて重要な地域であり, 今後さらに人骨資料の収集, 研究につとめたい.
