Specific Study Mission for the Activity of Large Scale Computing Centers to the United States of America

1989年10月29日至11月14日，考察团访问了美国的4个超级计算机中心和国家科学基金会，以调查这些组织的现状，并介绍了日本学术计算服务的活动。研究发现，美国政府、学术团体和行业之间的紧密合作、对可视化的大力投入、有效的用户支持、高速数据公路的规划等都是影响数据可视化的重要因素。这将有助于日本计算服务计划的未来预测。

During October 29 to November 14, 1989, the mission has visited to 4 supercomputer centers and National Science Foundation in USA in order to investigate the present status of the said organizations with the presentations about the activity of Japanese Academic Computing Services. It is found that the close corporation among US government, Academic Societies and Industries, the intensive effort for visualization, the effective user support, the planning of high speed data highway, and etc. This will be useful for the future projection of Japanese Computing Services Planning.
