涅槃経は中国に於いて説法時の問題から最後期の聖典として重要視され、五世紀には涅槃経を所依とする学派(常修多羅宗)の存在も知られる程である。しかし、その学派も後に天台宗に吸収され、涅槃経研究は天台及び諸宗の学僧に引き継がれ、多くの註釈書が現存するも、未だ註釈書を含めた思想内容の体系的・統一的な学術研究が為されていないのが現状である。本研究は中国・日本に於ける天台その他の仏教思想の統一的理解に資するべく、涅槃経及び主要註釈書を(1)『北本涅槃経』(2)『南本涅槃経』(3)チベット訳涅槃経・梵文断片(4)『大般泥垣経』(5)『大般涅槃経集解』(6)『大般涅槃経義記』(7)『大般涅槃経玄義』・『大般涅槃経疏』(8)『涅槃経玄義文句』・道遷の『涅槃経疏私記』・行満の『涅槃経疏私記』(9)『涅槃経疏三徳指帰』・『涅槃玄義発源機要』の9項目の研究として区分し、合計十五名の研究者により、諸本の学術用語に就いて整理及び比較研究を行ない総合的研究をすることとしたものである。(1)～(4)は本研究の基本文献であるため、まず諸典籍と他の異本との枝勘を行うことから着手し、諸典籍を詳細にわたり正確に読み取ることに努力し、併せて重要タームを教義上重要なもの及び固有名詞等凡てを摘出し、比較検討を行い、(5)～(9)では、諸本の成立の問題を僧伝等から考究し、各典籍について異本・末証書の収集と整理校合、比較研究を行い、併せて(1)～(4)の研究と連結させるべく、重要タームを摘出しカードに採録した。本年度は当該研究課題に関する最後の年度研究であるため、六大学に於ける研究連絡会議で厳密なる検討を加え研究の組織化を図り、草稿原稿の取りまとめを行った。以上の研究成果として研究成果報告書を平成三年四月に提出する予定である。

(1)(4) The basic documents of this study are collected, compared and discussed.(5)~(9) The problems of the establishment of various books are studied and discussed. The collection, collation, comparative study, research links and important topics of each book are collected and recorded. This year, the last annual research meeting of six universities related to this research topic was held to discuss the organization of research and draft manuscript selection. The above research results were submitted in April 2003.
